Our Story

Founded in 2021 by brothers Joel and Jamie Lichosik, Crops on Top is an urban farm in the Riverwest neighborhood of Milwaukee, that transformed an overgrown parking lot into a thriving space with raised beds and greenhouses for organically grown produce.

Joel, a world-traveled chef, has cooked from Alaska to Antarctica and worked with renowned chefs like Tom Douglas in Seattle and Stephanie Izard in Chicago. He returned to Milwaukee to be closer to family, while still continuing his culinary career.

Jamie, with a long career in hospitality, has worked across the U.S., including Alaska and Seattle. He has worked at many infamous Milwaukee spots, like the BBC and The Iron Horse Hotel. Currently, he is a beertender at Amorphic Beer.

Together, the pandemic inspired them to create Crops on Top, blending their skills and passions. Now, the farm is partnering with local chefs and restaurants, using innovative raised beds made from recycled materials. They aim to expand their efforts into education and event hosting, creating a lasting community resource.
